Our own Dr. Emma Lathan spoke to the crowd that gathered on Tuesday, September 27 outside of Grady to advocate for Medicaid expansion following the news of the closure of Atlanta Medical Center's closing. She highlighed the devastating health effects of trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress disorder, and the need for expansion of Medicaid services to help address the high need for behavioral health services along with medical care for underresourced and marginalized individuals in the Atlanta community and across Georgia. The event was organized by Mark Spencer with
the Emory Internal Medicine Advocacy group, Health Students Taking Action Together, GA Health Professionals for Reproductive Justics, and other coalition partners.
